First Episode of My Show!!!

It's here! It's here! It's finally here! (CLICK HERE to watch.) About 6 months ago, I started doing free personal shopping trips in the Orlando area. I would always think "wouldn't it be cool to capture these experiences and post them on the blog?" That turned into an idea for a makeover show, and while I never thought in a million years it would happen this fast - here it is!! A HUGE thank you to IzonOrlando for believing in my vision and helping me bring it to life. The next steps are to shoot 12 more episodes this summer (I'll be doing a city-wide search for women to be on the show), and after that I hope to take J's Everyday Fashion national!

I can't wait to hear what you think - please leave your comments below, and if you like the video share it with your friends. (the more views we get, the better chance we have of making the show a regular thing!) Also, please keep in mind that this is a pilot - it was a learning experience for all of us so there are already some big improvements we have in mind for the next episode. Let me know what you'd like to see in future though!

congrats! that's so exciting :) if you ever end up in Virginia, let me know! I could use some help, especially since we don't have great shopping in the first place.

great first episode, and I agree- you are definitely a natural on film! my one request/what i'd like to see in the future is that I feel like we didn't really get to see the teaching aspect, or the process that went into putting the outfits together. for instance, i felt like the solid color tops that went with the printed skirt all pretty much had the same shape to them... could the skirt have worked with other, drastically different items in her closet such as a more structured top or a button-up? also, during the shopping experience we only got to see her try on the dresses as opposed to the separates (which was the goal of the trip). how did you determine which separates you went home with? i would have liked to see the difference between pieces that worked and didn't work, and of course why not. i think that would make the show that much better and help people at home know how to emulate outfits and put them together on their own

Hope you're having a great trip- http://kikiscornerfunfashionandfrivolity.blogspot.com/

Liz, great questions. The tops were all pretty much the same shape, because that is what Colleen had in her closet! Not everyone has a large number of tops in different shapes, because a lot of times women tend to gravitate towards certain shapes that work for them (which is fine, stick to what works for you). Keep in mind we don't have a whole department store to pull from, we are using exactly what she already has in her closet! It's as realistic and everyday as you could possibly get. :-)

As for the shopping experience, this is where the learning experience really comes in. What I wanted for the show is exactly what you are talking about, but we weren't able to shoot those scenes on this trip (due to a large # of uncontrollable factors that I won't get into). That is our #1 change we are planning for future episodes though!

Kimberly please share the video with your friends to help make national travel a possibility! :-) I can't do it unless I get a ton of viewer support!

Great video, the outfits you chose fit her figure really well!

Not that this has to do with fashion, but great location choice. It was so nostalgic watching this for me - I lived in Winter Park 2 years ago & I lived in the loft space directly above Stella Luca salon. Out of all the places I've lived, that place was my favorite!

This was awesome! I am most definitely looking forward to the future episodes. It's one thing to read your styling tips on your blog but it's a whole other to have them explained into detail! I love love love it! Girl, you belong on TLC. :) This first episode was perfect for me! I definitely need all 3 things... the fun tops, printed skirts, and a solid skirt. I can't wait for the next episode!

Congrats!  How cool is that!  You did great!  Can I ask what the shopping budget was?  Maybe say it on the show too?  Also it would be interesting to have the same budget each show, say $150-200 or a limit of 3-4 new items.  I almost think it would be cool to take out the shopping trip and just make new outfits with her existing clothes!  Just some thoughts!  Congrats again!!  :)

Thanks Audrey! I really wanted to include budget info, and I'm hoping we can figure out a way to do it in the future! There is so much I didn't know about filming a show though, so we are still navigating how to get my vision into 20 minutes of video. :-) I love the idea of not going shopping for someone with a ton of stuff they never wear. Colleen literally had one skirt though, and all dresses, so getting a couple key pieces changed her wardrobe a TON! It was so fun to see the transformation - she was emailing me pictures of her outfits the whole week after!
