[click the photo to view it larger] I'm switching it up this week for Flashback Friday! Instead of showing you one item multiple ways, I'm showing you how I wore black and brown together 14 different ways! Some styling tips:
- I've said it before and I'll say it again - the key to mixing black and brown is using a brown tone that is light and has a gold undertone. Chocolate brown is not enough of a contrast, but cognac works well.
- Animal prints such as leopard naturally contain both black and brown and can be an easy starting point for mixing the two colors in an outfit.
- If you are wearing black bottoms, try adding a brown belt and shoes like I did with many of the looks above. It's an easy switch that makes a huge difference!

I've always liked the black dress with mustard cardigan and animal print scarf. And the Madonna shirt outfit is such a fun way to wear a casual t-shirt.

Your ability to mix black and brown has always been impressive to me. The shades of brown that you have chosen in your outfits definitely make it pull together easily. With most of your outfits, you use the brown belt which really ties to the two colors together perfectly. The cognac shade of brown looks awesome with black. LOVE IT!!!!!
so funny. i was just abt to comment saying, "i feel like this is more cognac than brown." cuz I'm really anti black & brown combo, but then I read your first bullet point. hahaha. You're very right!! and I feel the combo works better with jewelry or accessories. It's harder to mix solid color clothing articles to achieve the black & brown combo that works.
No, I don't think I have ever paired black and brown together, but I have great examples now. I would love to try them all, but #9 is my favorite for this post.
I'm convinced. Any outfit you put on looks nice on you. I could never pull these looks off.

WOW you sure have worn Black & Brown, a lot, together. I don't usually wear these two colors together but they work. I love almost all these looks but I am choosing 8 particularly, out of the 14. I love looks 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 & 10.
